Eccentric fashion label loved by Liverpool schoolgirls in the 00s

If you went to school in the noughties and the early 2010s, you will remember one eccentric fashion label loved by lots of Liverpool schoolgirls.

Years ago, it become one of the go-to labels for the trend conscious girls of Merseyside. Inspired by the New York urban hip/hop and graffiti scene of the 80s, the Paul’s Boutique label could be seen on everything from quilted jackets to bags, statement tees and more.

The London born brand, which first broke through in the early 2000s, prided itself of incorporating a dose of British eccentricity into its designs. At one point, Paul's Boutique was everywhere and became known for its bold colours and eye-grabbing colour and pattern combos.

At the time, the designs and signature PB logo could be spotted a mile away down hundreds of school corridors across Merseyside and beyond. Outside of school, you could also spot adults sporting the latest Paul Boutique's trends.

Many will remember the oversized Paul’s Boutique bags with chunky handles, that would be partnered with a fancy keychain or a neon scarf tied around one of the buckles. You could also get purses and t-shirts that simply said Paul's Boutique in comic-sans font, as well as heavily customised hoodies with rhinestones, cheetah print or bright colours.

A brand of choice for many Scouse girls, the brand soured in the noughties and early 2010s, before dipping in popularity. In its time, Paul's Boutique battled against fakes and perception that it was somewhat "chavvy."

At one point, school girls of a certain age will remember reality stars being papped in Paul's Boutique. When X Factor was at its height, many will remember seeing the likes of Cher Lloyd sporting the brand.

Paul's Boutique bags, hoodies and more still lived tucked away in many of our wardrobes and lofts. But if you're ever feeling nostalgia, a number of items can still be bought on the likes of eBay for a couple of quid.

In recent times, we've seen 00s trends re-emerge, from Juicy Couture’s signature velour tracksuits to classic Ugg boots and Crocs - so maybe one day Paul's Boutique will make another appearance.
