Ebere Eze stars, Wilfried Zaha shines off bench - Crystal Palace player ratings vs Southampton

Vicente Guaita - 6

Was let down by his defenders for the opening goal and didn't really put a foot wrong for the

Nathaniel Clyne - 7

Tried to open play out as much as he could and supported Ayew well on the right flank. Played in by James McArthur for the equaliser where he got to the byline and pulled out a deep cross for Eze to smash home.

Joachim Andersen - 6

Endured a real battle against a physical Southampton side. Came out on top more often than not though.

Marc Guehi - 7

Straight into the battle with several challenges before giving away a free kick for obstruction. Should have done better to stop Romeu for the opener.

Joel Ward - 6

Looked accomplished going forward though didn't always get the chance when Walker-Peters and Redmond pushed up on his side.

James McArthur - 6

Didn't cover himself in glory for the opener along with Schlupp and Guehi as Romeu was able to get to the ball virtually unopposed. Covered a lot of ground but couldn't always find the right pass.

Jeffrey Schlupp - 7

Put an excellent cross into the box for Gallagher after 15 minutes but his midfield partner couldn't hit the target. Was again influential when setting up Mateta with a neat pass but the Frenchman could only force a corner from a tight angle.

Conor Gallagher - 7

Started well on the front foot and created space for those around him with penetrating forward runs. Had a free header inside the box but failed to hit the target despite having to stretch for it.

Eberechi Eze - 8

Isolated at times on the wing and didn't get involved much in the game when Southampton had the ball in the first half. Swung in a good corner for Jordan Ayew to attack and test Fraser Forster at the end of the first half.

Started the second half in a similar vein but took his goal excellently with a driven, powerful effort that flew past Forster at the near post after being picked out by Clyne.

Jean-Philippe Mateta - 6

Booked inside the first 20 minutes for a silly off-ball tussle with Jan Bednarek. Continued to get picked out with crosses into the box but struggled up against the equally physical Bednarek.

Jordan Ayew - 6

Made some good runs down the right side and linked up well with Conor Gallagher on occasion though couldn't always find the killer final touch.

Substitutes

Wilfried Zaha (for Jean-Philippe Mateta 64') - 8

Straight into the action and lead the line with more pace than Mateta offered. Excellent finish to snatch the winner at the death.

Michael Olise (for Jeffrey Schlupp) - N/A

Will Hughes (for Eberechi Eze) - N/A
