Eat Out to Help Out in Glasgow - the restaurants extending 50% off food deal into September

The UK Government scheme to get customers back to restaurants following lockdown seems to have gone down a treat - and we have good news for fans in Glasgow.

Eat Out To Help Out, a scheme intended to boost for the country’s hospitality sector, has meant a 50% discount (maximum £10 per person) at participating restaurants on Mondays to Wednesdays throughout August.

And if you’ve visited Glasgow city centre on these days then you may have noticed a large uptake, as tables were snapped up at the city’s finest eateries.

A local group of restaurants has found the deal so successful that they’re now adding two new dates, marking an extra week for the Eat Out To Help Out initiative at several locations.

Restaurant group The DRG includes The Anchor Line, Atlantic Bar & Brasserie, The Citizen, Cafe Andaluz (various locations), Di Maggio’s in Royal Exchange Square and East Kilbride and Amarone (all locations) - and they’ll all be taking 50% off bills on September 1 and 2 (Tuesday and Wednesday) as well.

That extends the original deal beyond August and allows anyone who hasn’t had a chance to take part yet to get out there and grab a bargain.

A representative of The DRG group told Glasgow Live: "We have, like all restaurants, enjoyed the buzz and enthusiasm for The Chancellor going “dutch” on the bill and know some of our customers have missed out as it was so popular.

"We’ve decided to extend the promotion at our restaurants for a further two days, so adding in all day on September 1 and 2 to our dates.

"We’ll be making a small change in that it’s 50% off all food (not any drinks), and will be the same as the existing offer – a maximum £10 per person."

With big names like The Anchor Line involved, we have a feeling tables will go fast so book while you have a chance, Glasgow Live readers, and enjoy your night out - we have a feeling you’ve earned it this year.
