Eat like a royal with King Charles' clever tip for perfectly cooked roast potatoes

King Charles has shared some of his top tips for cooking - meaning you can now eat like a royal.

It could be argued that roast potatoes are the item that really make a Sunday dinner. Everyone loves and cooks their spuds in a different way - but all have the same end goal in sight, aiming for light and fluffy on the inside with the perfect crisp on the outside.

But now you could have royal roasties if you follow the clever tips from His Majesty himself. The monarch spoke about the best way to cook potatoes during a visit to the Bradford HQ of popular supermarket chain Morrisons on Tuesday, which formed part of his two-day trip to Yorkshire, reported The Mirror.

According to the King, you shouldn't be adding oil to your potatoes when you put them in the oven, and you can also ditch the fancy duck or goose fats - as the best way to cook your roast potatoes is by using the fat from whatever joint of meat you've been cooking.

Rebecca English, Royal Editor for the Daily Mail, posted the King's hack on Twitter, where she also shared a video of him shaking hands with Morrisons workers. Her tweet read: "At the Bradford HQ of @Morrisons The King offered his tip for the perfect roast potato (cook them in fat from the joint!) as he smelt an 'irresistible' rib of beef."

King Charles' top tip was also backed up by commenters on the tweet, as one woman responded: "His Majesty is absolutely spot on! Nothing better than a beef-dripping roast potato!"

His Majesty's visit to the Morrisons HQ has also seen him win over employees who work at stores around the region, as they gave him a hearty cheer after he told them he hoped they would have time off for Christmas.

He spoke to people involved in farming, community, sustainability and the company's apprenticeship programmes, and as he arrived, he chatted to people who worked at stores around the region, telling them: "Thank-you for your wonderful efforts. I hope they let you off at Christmas."

Later, in a short speech, he told the staff: "It's a great joy to see you all today. I had no idea quite how many of you worked here at Morrisons."
