EasyJet warns holidaymakers of strict new alcohol laws on Spain's Balearic Islands

EasyJet has warned holidaymakers of new alcohol laws in place at some areas of the Balearic Islands.

New rules on the Spanish islands mean that everyone will be limited to three drinks per person during lunch and dinner as part of all inclusive breaks.

This means that tourists will be limited to just six drinks each day as part of their package at hotels in certain areas, reports Liverpool Echo.

It comes after the government on the Balearic Islands implemented new laws to crack down on binge drinking in 2020.

Officials banned happy hours, pub crawls and two-for-one drink offers in three of the most popular tourist destinations.

Alcohol cannot be sold in shops between 9.30pm and 8am, while advertising party boards in certain areas are also forbidden.

EasyJet reminded passengers of the new rules (PA)

The rules came into place in San Antonio in Ibiza and Playa de Palma and Magaluf on Mallorca.

Anyone looking to purchase more than the daily six drink limit at an all-inclusive hotel in these areas must pay extra for them.

Reminding passengers about the laws, EasyJet said: “Due to a change in Spanish law which affects certain resorts in the Balearic islands, alcoholic drinks are now limited to three per person at lunch and dinner as part of the all inclusive basis.”

Changes to Scotland’s Covid travel policy will come into effect from next month - making it easier for Scots to go abroad ahead of the summer season.

Fully vaccinated travellers will not be required to take a test within two days of their arrival into Scotland, under the new rules coming into effect from 4am on February 11.

Scots will still be required to fill in a passenger locator form while work is carried out on a new surveillance system to monitor the board during the pandemic.
