EasyJet lost luggage: What to do if airline loses your suitcase or bag

It's everyone's worst nightmare when arriving or coming back from a much-needed holiday - you wait at the baggage carousel only for your suitcase not to appear.

But what are travellers with EasyJet entitled to if the budget airline damages or loses their suitcase or bag?

If EasyJet damages your suitcase of bag, you need to complete a damage report at the airline's Baggage Services desk in the Arrivals hall at the airport you have travelled to.

Easyjet will contact you to collect your luggage and repair any damage as quickly as possible.

However, the budget airline doesn't take any responsibility for damage that’s:

  • superficial or external
  • due to over-packing
  • from water, rain or snow
  • been inflicted on fragile or perishable items inside. For damaged contents of bags, please contact your travel insurance.

But what if your luggage doesn't appear at all?

Easyjet assures travellers on its websit e that "more than 90% of our delayed bags are found within the first 5 days."

If your bag is missing from the Arrivals hall when you land, you should contact a member of the Baggage Services Team within the airport to assist you.

If they are unable to retrieve your bag before you leave the airport, use EasyJet's Dedicated Baggage Portal as soon as possible to register your bag.

While you wait for your bag to be found, EasyJet will provide you compensation for any essentials you need to purchase as a result of your luggage being missing.

If you’re away from home and EasyJet haven’t returned your bag to you within 24 hours, they will reimburse up to £25 per person per day, for up to three days (that’s a maximum of £75 per person in total).

To claim the money back, please keep all receipts and submit them online within 21 days of your flight.

In the event that they can’t find your bag after 45 days, EasyJet considers it to be lost, and you’ll be eligible for compensation.

You can claim this compensation online here. The amount paid will depend on the contents of your bag and any receipts you have as proof of purchase.
