UK holidaymakers travelling to Italy on Friday October 21 could face disruption to their flights, easyJet has warned. This is due to national strike action which will affect air traffic control and ground handling services.
Customers are being advised to allow extra time for travel and to check the status of their flight. Passengers whose flights have been cancelled will be contacted by the airline.
In a statement on their website, easyJet said: “We have been informed of national strike action in Italy on Friday 21st October, which will affect air traffic control and ground handling services. Like most airlines operating to and from Italy, we may see some disruption to our flight schedules on this date.

“We advise anyone travelling to, from or within Italy on Friday 21st October to allow additional time to travel to and from the airport and to check the status of their flights on our Flight Tracker on our mobile app or website.
“Should any flights be cancelled then we will contact you via email and SMS using the details provided at the time of booking and check in.”
The airline advises passengers with cancelled flights that they should not travel to the airport, but they can transfer their flight free of charge. Or they can request a voucher, all of this can be done via the easyJet website under the ‘Manage Bookings’ tab.
easyJet added they were “doing all they can” to limit the disruption caused by the strike action and that it was “outside their control”.
