Travellers are facing more disruption as easyJet plans to cancel hundreds of flights.
The airline has cancelled 40 flights a day between now and the end of the month, with plans to cut a further 400 nationwide up to June 30.
EasyJet is said to be scrapping flights as it struggles with staff shortages, Birmingham Live reports.
It comes as passengers were left stranded after easyJet reportedly axed services on Tuesday, including flights from Glasgow, Belfast, Gatwick and Newcastle.
EasyJet said it has contacted customers about options to rebook or receive a refund.
A spokesperson said: "EasyJet is operating up to 1700 flights carrying up to a quarter of a million customers a day.
"There are industry wide operational issues that are impacting airlines at the moment, which means we have made a number of pre-emptive cancellations.
"We have informed customers in advance to minimise the impact on their plans and provide the option to rebook before travelling or receive a refund, and our customer service hours have been extended to support affected customers.
"EasyJet remains absolutely focused on our daily operation and continues to monitor this very closely."
In a message to staff seen by The Guardian, the airline is pre-emptively axing the flights in an effort to combat staff shortages.
Easyjet CEO Peter Bellew said: “Making these cancellations is not something we take lightly but what’s worse is to cancel our customers’ plans on the day that they are ready to fly."
Martin Chalk, the general secretary of the British Airline Pilots’ Association, said that the “more notice you give a passenger the better”, as “when airlines get their planning wrong, it is the staff that feel the heat of customers’ dissatisfaction.”
Wizz Air, Tui and British Airways have all cancelled flights recently due to industry problems while many airports and airlines have struggled to recruit new staff to fill gaps from the pandemic.
