EasyJet cancel flights across the country after IT difficulties

EasyJet has cancelled flights across the country after the budget airline was plagued by IT problems.

The flight operator announced the cancellation of a flight from Manchester to Paris, along with a number of other flights set to leave both Manchester and Liverpool airports. The flight from Manchester to Paris is one of six cancelled in the space of an hour with flights to Prague, Munich, Antalya, Belfast and Nice also off.

Flights up and down the country have been cancelled by the airline as the company deals with technical issues. People have been turned away at the gate throughout the afternoon as travellers shared their frustrations.

People have since taken to Twitter to say they found out their flights were cancelled just hours before they planned to fly. The disruption is believed to have been caused by IT difficulties.

People have claimed that they were told of the cancellations as they were boarding their flights, with some claiming they were being given no explanation. Dan Fletcher posted on Twitter: "Currently in Liverpool and all easyJet flights cancelled."

Along with the cancellations, EasyJet's website is also "temporarily unavailable". The website says: "Our systems are undergoing some essential maintenance work at the moment.

"Whilst we do this our flight booking, online check-in and manage bookings services will not be available. We should be back up and running at 4.00 am. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Jonathan Collins tweeted: "Have you cancelled all flights from the UK? Currently sat waiting for an Easyjet flight from Liverpool to Malaga and people saying that there’s a nationwide issue? Any communication would be good from someone!"

An EasyJet spokeswoman told the ECHO: "Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing IT systems issues which means that flights due to depart between 13:00 and 15:00 UK time today may be impacted. Our team of IT specialists is working to restore the systems as soon as possible.

"We advise customers due to travel with us today to continue to check Flight Tracker to check the status of their flight before making their way to the airport. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would like to thank customers for their patience as we work to resolve this as soon as possible."
