Easyjet cabin crew perform CPR after passenger has 'heart attack'

Easyjet cabin crew gave a passenger CPR after he suffered a "heart attack" during a flight. The man suffered a medical episode mid-air on the London-bound flight from Faro.

The plane took off at 10am and the emergency landing came just 20 minutes into the journey. The flight was diverted to Madrid in Spain.

Witnesses said cabin crew rushed to revive the passenger after he was believed to have suffered a heart attack en route, BirminghamLive reports. Following the landing, the man was taken away by paramedics.

A spokesperson for the airline told the Sun newspaper: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2452 from Faro to Luton diverted to Madrid due to a passenger requiring urgent medical assistance. The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority.”

An easyJet spokesman confirmed the flight was forced to land due to a passenger’s illness. Emergency landings are typically made when there is an imminent or ongoing threat to the safety and operation of the aircraft, or involving a sudden need for a passenger or crew on board to terminate the flight, such as a medical emergency.

In April, an Easyjet flight was forced to make an emergency landing after the pilot fell ill. The plane from London Gatwick was heading to Agadir in Morocco but had to be diverted nearly 500 miles away.

At the time, the airline said the captain performed a routine landing in accordance with standard operating procedures. The aircraft was met by medical services on arrival in Faro.
