Opened in March, Courtyard by Marriott North Pattaya is the latest addition to Courtyard by Marriott, a brand with the largest number of properties under Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio of 30 brands. Located in Na Klua 22 and a few minutes away from hotspots on Pattaya Beach, as well as a more serene vibe on Wong Amat Beach, Courtyard by Marriott North Pattaya makes for a convenient stay whether you're there for leisure or business.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Basked in natural light, the double-height reception area greets you with both style and spaciousness. Check-in counters stand against marbling wall panels that glow with an amber hue. Two wavy artworks on the ceiling and the wall remind you that you've arrived in the coastal city.
With the brand's ethos of "everything you need to move forward", 233 contemporary rooms and suites are equipped with essentials and a few extras to make for a comfortable stay. The accommodation size starts at 28m² of Superior and Premier Rooms and goes up to 44m² of Courtyard Suites.
I checked into a mid-tier 37m² Deluxe Room that comes with a view of a green parking space outside through floor-to-ceiling windows. The living/bedroom with tray ceiling feels cosy and spacious and comes with a working corner and other usual amenities you would expect. The sizeable marble bathroom comes with a blinder that can be drawn up so you won't feel confined while you luxuriate in a big bathtub. The guestrooms also feature the brand signature window side lounger, providing guests with a good spot to recline, relax and enjoy the view.
STAYING IN
On-site dining options include Café 22, the all-day dining restaurant on the ground floor that serves a wide selection of local and international favourites in a vibrant ambience with open kitchens. Kickstart your day with a breakfast spread of cold cuts, sausages, dim sums and more, as well as freshly-made dishes from the noodle and egg stations. It features local flavours such as Pineapple fried rice with Chinese sausage, Pork panang curry and Squid green curry. Do come back here to order Penne with soft-shell crab cream sauce or jaw-breaking Signature hamburger for lunch or dinner. Or go all out with a Saturday seafood dinner buffet, which allows you to enjoy scallops, mussels, squid or crab and have them cooked the way you want for as long as you can eat within three and a half hours. Besides cook-to-order seafood, you can also help yourself to hot dishes such as Crab fried rice, Fettucine khee mao with chorizo and Wagyu beef cheek bourguignon. You may need to add a new yule hole afterwards though.
Adjacent to Café 22, Spart's Bar is where guests can unwind over crafted cocktails, cold-brew coffee and more. If you have sweet tooth, check out its hybrid cronut and cruffle.
The poolside Surf Bar on the ninth floor is a good spot to enjoy a refreshing sundowner while looking over Pattaya's skyline. You can also hit the well-equipped 24/7 fitness centre to burn serious calories on the same floor while the little ones can play and be entertained at the kid's club. Be realistic with your expectation in terms of view here though since the hotel doesn't immediately sit next to the beach and is amidst neighbouring hotels.
Business-wise, Courtyard by Marriott North Pattaya's Grand Ballroom can host meetings or social occasions within its 230m² pillar-free space. It can be partitioned into two smaller spaces for more intimate events. The foyer also provides a space for coffee breaks and cocktail receptions.
GOING OUT
Guests staying at Courtyard by Marriott North Pattaya can enjoy many attractions from countless bars and restaurants, world-class water parks to retail malls. Low-hanging fruits are Terminal 21 and Central Festival but you can venture further to Pattaya's famous Walking Street, the Sanctuary of Truth and the floating market. I suggest staying clear of the nearest beach stretch to the hotel as it's coarse and narrow. Wong Amat Beach, not far to the north of the hotel, is a much better choice to relax on.
