Laurel County native and Lexington resident Katie Bing has been officially named the fifth ever clerk of the Kentucky Supreme Court.
The position’s responsibilities involve overseeing the court’s case filing and management, alongside keeping custody, control and storage of court records. Bing also currently serves as court administrator.
Bing graduated from the University of Kentucky’s College of Law in 2013 and started her law career as a clerk for Deputy Chief Justice Mary C. Noble.
She then spent six years in private law practice, and returned to the Supreme Court as the deputy court administrator in 2020.
Bing was permanently appointed to the position Nov. 9 after serving as the interim clerk since Sept. 1. She’s succeeding Kelly Stephens, who left the post in August.
