Eastern Kentucky FEMA disaster recovery centers closing November 22nd

Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster recovery centers in eastern Kentucky will shut down later this month. The centers will close November 22nd. The announcement was made during Governor Beshear’s Team Kentucky update Thursday.

The governor said it is important for eastern Kentuckians to use these facilities while they are available. He said people are still getting results by going to the centers in person.

“If you still have a claim that you are not satisfied with, if you have been denied, if you do not think you have received enough money, now through November 22nd, wear these centers out. Get in there, look people eye-to-eye, make sure you know what documents are needed.”

Governor Beshear said people still need to visit these centers.

“I will tell you, since the FEMA application period on Oct. 28th, when new applications closed, more than three million dollars has been approved and they’ve been approved primarily through these centers.”

So far more than 86-point-6-million dollars in grants have been approved through FEMA’s Individuals and Households program. The disaster recovery centers will be closed for Veterans’ Day but will reopen until November 22nd.
