National treasure David Attenborough transports us back to the Earth of 66 million years ago as palaeontologist Robert DePalma has made an incredible discovery in a prehistoric graveyard - fossilised creatures, astonishingly well preserved, that could help change humanity's understanding of the last days of the dinosaurs. Evidence from his site records the day when an asteroid bigger than Mount Everest hit the planet, causing dinosaurs to become extinct.

In light of these findings, the veteran naturalist reveals exactly what happened, employing CGI to recreate the late Cretaceous period from which he documents, minute-by-minute, the events of that cataclysmic day some 66 million years ago.
