Easter Sunday weather forecast issued by Met Eireann, with outdoor egg hunts potentially affected

With the Easter Bunny putting the final preparations in place for Sunday morning, plans for outdoor Easter egg hunts are ramping up so parents and guardians will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast.

Met Eireann has now revealed the weather forecast for Sunday and it's clear that any outdoor Easter egg hunts will have to be timed properly on what will be a day of two halves.

The national forecaster anticipates a primarily dry day in the early stages of Easter so the morning would likely be the best time for any egg hunts outside.

That's because rain will spread across the country from west to east into the afternoon and heavier rain is expected in the late afternoon.

A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "On Easter Sunday morning, while it will be largely dry in the east with some brighter spells, it will be a mostly cloudy day, rain in the west during the morning will gradually spread eastwards in the afternoon.

"While there will be a few drier intervals for a time in the west through the middle of the day a further band of heavier rain will push in later in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in fresh and blustery southerly winds.

"As the band of rain clear east early on Sunday night, scattered heavy or thundery showers will follow from the west with a slight chance of some hail locally. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in mostly moderate southwesterly winds."
