EastEnders star, 53, in tears as he welcomes twins with his wife and shares first snaps

EastEnders star Stephen Rahman-Hughes and his wife have welcomed twins - just 18 months after the birth of their daughter.

The actor, who played Adam Bateman on the BBC One show shared a tearful picture with his baby boys.

Stephen proudly held his new bundles of joy as he announced their names

Taking to social media the new dad said: "Big news! Today my life took a massive twist. TWINS!!

"I am astonished and in pieces after seeing my wife [Anjali Mehra] do it again but this time delivering 2 beautiful boys.

"We are beyond happy that Sonny & Remy have joined our clan and that they had such a beautiful arrival."

In the heartfelt post, he continued: "If only Juney was here to welcome her new grandsons. That would have been even more perfect.

"It couldn’t have gone more smoothly - some will remember that Anj had an incredibly difficult experience delivering Aphra (only 18 months ago)"

The dad opened uo about how long the couple had waited to have children.

In the post, Stephen added: "They say 'double the trouble but double the joy' and we fully expect to have a riotous time with our 3 little precious angels.

"We wished and tried for so long patiently hoping for children. We have been truly blessed and are so grateful.

"Thank you to the team [at St. Georges] for their diligence, patience and painstaking hard work in these most challenging times for [the NHS ] . The staff we encountered showed so much compassion and care under trying conditions.

"We are filled with gratitude. Our heartfelt thanks. We can’t wait for you all to meet them: much love from us. Stephen, Anj, Aphra, Sonny Rain and Remy Jude x"
