EastEnders star Sam Attwater is unrecognisable from days as teen hunk Leon Small

Dancing on Ice champion Sam Attwater has offered his advice to those taking part in the new series in January, reflecting on his win in 2011 - as well as his return for the All Stars series in 2014.

But a year before he became a champion on the ice, EastEnders fans may recall his stint on the BBC soap.

He played teen heartthrob Leon Small - the on/off lover of Zsa Zsa Carter who got Lucy Beale pregnant.

Leon was a close friend of fan favourite Fatboy, and part of the spin-off series EastEnders: E20.

But viewers of the show would be forgiven for not remembering him being on the soap a decade on, with the actor looking very different now.

The star is now sporting a full beard and moustache, with a swept back hair do.

He was a key part of EastEnders at one point, after he slept with Lucy Beale leading the teen to discover she was pregnant.

She initially planned to allow her father Ian and stepmother Jane to adopt her child, before having an abortion.

The actor, 33, has been married to his Dancing On Ice All Stars partner Vicky Ogden for almost six years now, with the pair meeting on the show.

He said being partnered up with her and competing was "life-changing", with the pair having two young daughters.

One of his little girls, aged three, may even follow in her mother and father's footsteps with her already on the ice.

Sam discussed how the skating series changed his life (ITV)

Speaking of his memories of Dancing on Ice , he said: "All I can say is enjoy it, love it, honestly it's life-changing.

"Well it was for me obviously, meeting Vicky, we've been married nearly six years, we have two beautiful little girls."

Sam added: "I still skate a lot, not properly but my daughter who is now three has been on the ice for two years, since she could walk.

"So we go down two or three times a week, Vicky's got an ice skating school down in Milton Keynes so she’s there every day but we skate as a family now."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
