EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt 's kids were bullied at school because of his iconic role as Ian Beale.
Adam, 54, is one of the most recognisable and long-running soap stars in British TV history, having played the role of Ian for over 36 years portraying some of the soap's hardest-hitting storylines with issues including murder, homelessness, and heartbreak.
While Adam has gained incredible recognition for his EastEnders role, it has come with some negatives too as his children, daughter Jessie and son Sam, suffered at school due to their famous dad's career.
Lifting the lid on his children's school life, Adam admitted that 'it can't have been easy for them' given his notoriety.
"You would have to ask them how going through school with Ian Beale as their father was. It can't have been easy for them.
"I did actually apologise for them once when I picked up an award. They must have gotten some stick at school," he told Daily Star.
Adam was last seen in Albert Square in January 2021 but has kept busy with various other projects since.
Since leaving the soap, Adam hasn't had time to keep up with the current storylines in the BBC soap.
The actor has continued to remain coy about whether or not he will return to the BBC soap as Ian Beale.
The 54-year-old has cast doubt on whether viewers will ever see troublesome Ian back in Albert Square.
Adam departed Walford after 36 years in the role, to appear on the 2021 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! but it was described as being an 'extended break'.
But over a year later, Adam still hasn't been on our screens and has since now admitted that it's not just his decision if he returns to the square.
"I'm never gonna say never," Adam told website The Buzz.
"But it's a question I get asked all the time. And it's a question I can't answer because I don't know the answer. It's not just my decision, it's their decision as well," he continued.
Adam then added: "They've got to write something. I've got to be available. Because I keep doing other work. The door's open, but there's a lot of doors that are open."
It comes after Adam's divorce with wife Beverley Sharp was finalised two years after they split up.
Their 22-year marriage broke down a year before they announced their separation, keeping it under wraps even after Adam had left the family home. Both parties have denied cheating in their marriage and it's understood there was no third-party involvement in their split.
The pair are now said to have reached an agreement about their divorce settlement and have been served a decree absolute.
Adam actor is now on the road living in a motorhome and starring in the musical My Fair Lady.
