Albert Square is set to be thrown into turmoil, as the fallout from the Argee Bhajee explosion on EastEnders leaves Gray panicked his murderous secret could be revealed.
It comes just as Walford locals are still recovering from New Year's Eve, when Aaron nearly denoted a bomb inside The Albert at the instruction of Neil's far-right group.
BBC spoilers now reveal that in scenes set to air Monday, February 7, Gray panics when he sees the Argee Bhajee cordoned off with police tape following the gas explosion.
Eve sees his panicked response and he distracts her with the explanation that it’s a big day at the hospital - he can finally hold unwell baby Jordan.
But as the threat of murdered Tina’s body being discovered looms, desperate Gray returns to the Argee Bhajee in later scenes and poses as an insurance broker.
Murderous Gray tells a builder at the restaurant that he needs to assess the damage at the site.
The builder tells him that the restaurants will have to be stripped back - leaving Gray panicked.
Evil Gray goes into a meltdown, fearing that Tina’s body could be discovered.
Tina was murdered by Gray over a year ago in EastEnders and the residents of Albert Square are still unaware she is even dead.
After killing Tina and his wife Chantelle, Gray continued on his murderous spree and killed Kush Kazemi.
BBC spoilers further reveal that in scenes later in the week on Tuesday, Gray’s fears his crimes will be exposed reach a fever-pitch.
He takes the drastic decision to pack his bags and grab his family’s passports.
But as the pressure continues to build, Gray is approached by Detective Chief Inspector Arthurs.
Will his crimes finally be exposed? Will Albert Square learn the truth of what happened to Tina? Or will he get away?
In the week of the explosion, Shirley is seen ending her search for Tina, casting doubt on whether she would even be found, but the BBC bosses have said Gray's downfall is coming.
Head of Continuing Drama for BBC Kate Oates revealed: "Gray’s story was always intended to be a longer arc after the death of Chantelle, but even though some of his actions have been extreme, they have always been grounded in the roots of Gray’s character.
"He’s a classic narcissist: everything he does is designed to fit a narrative that absolves him from guilt, and paints him out to be a good guy.
"I think in Gray, we have a character who tells himself that Chantelle died in a terrible accident; that Tina had to die so he could be there for his kids; and Kush had to go, because he and Whitney are ‘meant to be’. He’s the centre of his own universe, and nothing is his fault."
EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
