EastEnders' Rose Ayling-Ellis plays crucial role in Christmas chaos months after exit

Despite quitting the BBC soap earlier this year, Rose Ayling-Ellis played a pivotal role in the drama that went down in Albert Square on Christmas Day, which saw her on screen dad Danny Dyer make a dramatic episode.

After spending a few years in the role of Frankie, the child Danny's character Mick fathered after being abused in care as a youngster, Strictly champion Rose waved goodbye to the Queen Vic a few months ago. However, before she left, many EastEnders fans tipped Rose to have a lasting impact, due to an incriminating photo she unwittingly found herself at the centre of.

On the day Janine wickedly framed Linda for a drink drive crash, the Square's super villain was seen in the back of the shot, when she claimed she was out of town, with Shirley Carter, Mick's mum, breaking the lock of Janine's daughter Scarlett's diary to find the picture and take it to the Christmas dinner table to get answers.

And, after Jada's return also spelt trouble for Janine, as the young mum revealed she'd been blackmailed by her, the photo proved to be the nail in the coffin for her lies. The unravelling of Janine's deceit was the catalyst for a dramatic final few minutes of EastEnders' Christmas episode, as her car careered off a cliff and into the sea, with Linda in the passenger seat. After saving Janine, Mick went back in after Linda, unaware she'd managed to drag herself to shore.

Mick is feared dead at sea, after Danny announced he was quitting the show this year but, while heartbroken at his exit, fans are ecstatic the truth is out about Janine and thrilled that Rose had a part to play.
