EastEnders veteran Rita Simons has made it known that her teenage daughter is a TV star in her own right as she appeared on CBBC's Saturday Mash Up Live!
Rita, 45, who is best known for her role as Roxy Mitchell on the popular soap, posted encouragement for her daughter on Instagram.
Maiya Silveston, who is one of Rita and ex Theo Silveston's twin daughters, made her appearance on the show to promote a new drama that she is starring in.
The 16-year-old actress will be taking on the role of Kaz in Silverpoint, a BBC drama that focuses on four children who went missing in the woods in 1997.
With 13 episodes, the major BBC show takes a wholesome adventure camp and gives it a sinister spin.
Kaz runs away from the base during the night which prompts the other three children to go after her, but they find something strange in the woods.
Maiya shared a picture of herself and co-stars Scarlett Rayner and Krish Misra on the set of Saturday Mash Up Live which proud mum Rita reposted, telling her 492k followers to 'tune in'.
Last year Rita gushed about her daughter's success in an appearance on Lorraine, although she couldn't give out many details.
She told Christine Lampard, who was filling in for the chat show host: "Maiya is currently away. I can’t say where and I can’t say what she’s doing.
"But it’s gonna be in March it’s coming out and she’s doing a lead role in a drama, in a sci-fi."
Maiya was just 15 when she went away to film the show, Rita expressed her great pride at her daughter's accomplishments.
She said: "I’m very proud of her.
"She’s been gone since the beginning of May and she’s not back until the end of September. I can’t say any more than that.
"She’s only just 15, she’s had to do all the cleaning and cooking, washing for herself. I’m very proud of her."
Rita shares twin daughters Maiya and Jaimee with her ex Theo, the couple were together for 12 years but parted ways in 2018.
They confirmed their split two years later, with Rita's agent saying that although the two are no longer together that they are amicably co-parenting their daughters.
The couple decided to keep things under wraps as they filed for divorce but Rita has since opened up about how unhappy it made her.
Speaking to OK! magazine, Rita admitted that she'd thrown herself into work as she secretly felt 'desperately unhappy'.
"I was working non-stop and doing well but I was desperately unhappy – not that anyone would have known. I had so much going on at home I was driving myself mad working to try to forget about everything else," she told the publication.
Rita's appearance in I'm A Celeb was around the time of her separation and her weight plummeted.
She said: "I was physically ill every other week and I lost loads of weight.
"I lost a stone in the jungle and then another three-and-a-half pounds. I didn't have a life."
