EastEnders’ actress Patsy Kensit is set to make a tearjerking return to Walford to say goodbye to her late daughter Lola Pearce.
In emotional scenes to air next week, the residents of Albert Square will get to say their final goodbyes to the beloved mum of Lexi and wife of Jay Brown.
Regular viewers will know that Lola, played by Danielle Harold, died recently in heartbreaking scenes after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last year and told her condition was terminal, with the mass being inoperable.
Patsy made her debut on the BBC One soap as Emma Harding, Lola’s estranged mother, but ended up leaving in March when her daughter’s terminal prognosis became too much for her to bear.
Unable to come to terms with being abandoned again, Lola and her husband Jay, played by Jamie Borthwick, banished Emma from Walford for good.
Despite their estrangement Emma, played by Patsy Kensit, 55, wants to say farewell to her beloved daughter.
However, when she turns up at the crematorium she's met by Honey.
After initial tension, Emma is asked if she wants to join the service but the grieving mum's emotions get the better of her and she panics.
It's touch and go whether or not Emma will get to say goodbye to Lola and make her final peace.
Elsewhere in the Square drama is never far away and the heightened feelings get the better of a number of people.
Jay is struggling to handle his grief and turns to alcohol in The Vic for comfort while Honey finds a dejected Billy alone outside the funeral parlour.
But on the day of Lola's funeral Billy is nowhere to be seen.
Back in the Square, Lola's hearse arrives decorated with flowers and colourful messages left by the late resident's loved ones.
The ceremony is a celebration of Lola's life with those closest to her, Jay and Lexi, giving emotional speeches about the beautiful and brave woman they loved.
After the funeral, the residents of Walford arrive back home to continue the celebration of Lola's life just as she wished but Jay slips away to record a final live stream thanking his late wife's followers for their support.
Later in the week, Jay continues to struggle to cope leaving Lexi concerned about her step-dad.
Lola's daughter then pushes her dad Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and grandad Billy away as they attempt to cheer the youngster up.
Callum Highway (Tony Clay) suggests Jay should move into their flat with Lexi but Ben rejects the idea.
Ben later shares a heart-to-heart with Jay and the grieving husband agrees to move in.
As the family sit down for dinner, the idea of eating food in front of his loved ones makes Ben feel uncomfortable as he begins to panic about how he'll keep his eating disorder a secret from his loved ones.
Meanwhile, Ben and Jay clash over parenting Lexi as she goes to walk to school on her own after she and her step-dad made the decision without including Ben weeks ago.
Lola's funeral episode is set to air on Tuesday 27th June on BBC One and iPlayer.
