EastEnders' original Lauren Branning actress looks completely different now

Actress Madeline Duggan rose to fame playing the original Lauren Branning in EastEnders when she was just 12.

Madeline played Max Branning's daughter for four years, before departing the soap. She was replaced by Jacqueline Jossa, who starred as Lauren from 2010 to 2018.

During her time on the show, Madeline saw her character involved in huge storylines such as her dad's affair with her half-brother's fiancé, and even an attempted murder. By the time she left the soap in 2010, she had also racked up a huge 249 episodes.

Following her EastEnders stint, Madeline had a number of small roles in TV shows such as The Tunnel and Silent Witness, as well as appearing in a few films. According to IMDb, her last acting role was in 2019.

In 2020 Madeline revealed on Twitter that she had come to terms with being replaced by Jacqueline Jossa. She said: “I was very young and it gave me options to do other things and get an American agent and enjoy some teenage life without being on screen lol worked out for the best.”

Another tweet later that year explained she had taken up a different profession altogether. She told her followers she had taken a part-time job in a GP surgery because "being an out of work actress doesn't pay".

While many soap fans will remember the star as a fresh-faced teenager, Madeline is now grown up and looks considerably different. Glamorous snaps on her Instagram page show the actress, now 28, celebrating her birthday and a number of holidays.
