In an upcoming episode of EastEnders, Janine Butcher receives worrying news about her pregnancy.
She is recovering after she fell down a flight of stairs at a tube station and badly knocked her stomach as she landed face down.
The worrying tumble in Tuesday’s episode was made even worse by the fact that her partner, Mick Carter, wasn’t at her side.
Mick misplaced his phone when he got swept up in the excitement of the football, so didn’t see Linda calling him manically to try and reach him after the fall.
It came after Sharon encouraged Mick to be more mindful of his blossoming relationship with Janine, especially around his ex-wife Linda, as it would be a sensitive subject.
However, when Janine needed a friend and someone to accompany her in the ambulance it was Linda at her side, as Mick was unreachable.
As a result, Linda missed her scheduled check-in with her probation officer, Murray, which led to a complication of her own.
Murray went along to the Old Vic to find Linda, but instead came face to face with Mick, who was stunned to be given a warning on Linda’s behalf that if she missed another one of their meetings, her probation would be revoked.
Finally, Shirley found and returned Mick’s phone to him, but his stomach turned as he learned that Janine was in hospital and that the fall might have impacted her pregnancy.
Thankfully, the scans showed that Janine’s baby was still alive, but the doctors warned that there could be some serious complications such as a distress to the foetus or even the tragic potential of a stillbirth.
The devastating news left Janine and Mick shaken, but it didn’t stop Janine from making the situation even worse.
She tells a brutal lie to cover her own back to Mick, but will he believe her? The truth is certain to come out eventually.
