Ian Beale has been one of EastEnders' staple characters ever since he made his striking debut back in 1985.
Played by Adam Woodyatt, it seems as though his character's ill-fated romances have rubbed off on his own, as he separated from wife Beverley Sharp after 22 years together.
The actor, 52, married dancer Beverley in 1998 and they have two children together.
But after more than two decades together, a spokesman for the BBC soap has confirmed they parted ways last year.
The statement said: "Beverley and Adam separated in August 2019 and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected."

And although his character Ian's love life has not exactly been symmetrical to his, Ian sure knows a thing or two about failed romances and marriages.
Ian has been married the most times in the history of EastEnders.
Making a reputation for himself after five failed marriages with four different women, as well as two failed engagements, it's safe to say the man is somewhat unlucky in love.
He also has three children (Peter, Lucy and Bobby Beale) plus acted as a father to Stephen Beale and Cindy Williams.
We take a look at the ladies in Ian's life that have come and gone throughout his time on the hit soap.

Tina Hopkins
Ian got involved romantically with Tina - played by Eleanor Rhodes - in 1987 - when he was still a teen fresh on our telly screens.
Their romance began to hot up and the pair went on to move in together - with Ian even losing his virginity to Tina after moving in together.
But like most fast-romances, their relationship was short-lived as soon after Tina's parents arrived unannounced at their flat, they soon made a point of disapproving her living conditions.
Tina's parents tore her apart from Ian, taking her to Ilford and subsequently putting an end to their relationship.
Elizabeth Beale
Ian's uncle Kenny Beale and cousin Elizabeth Beale - played by Lucy Bayler - visited him all the way from New Zealand.
Their visit was soon a regrettable one for Kenny as Ian and Elizabeth couldn't take their eyes of each other - despite being related.
But her return to new Zealand put an end to anything romantic between them

Their love never happened, but that didn't stop Ian from seeking love within the family.

Ian popped the question to her in 1989 - despite the fact that she cheated on him and got knocked up, only to lie to Ian and tell him that he's the father.

After getting to a better place mentally, Ian later reignite his flame with Cindy which saw them welcome twins Peter and Lucy.
But the plot thickened when Cidy left Ian for his brother David in a heartless act of betrayal.
Her reasoning was because Ian neglected her for his business, but this filled him with fury.
Cindy left for Italy before returning to get her kids back, but she was imprisoned for Ian's shooting and died in prison during childbirth.
Mel Owen

Ian's romantic timeline was then thrown into further chaos after he met Mel Owen - played by Tamzin Outhwaite.
The pair began to date, with Mel even popping the question to Ian - however later cheating on him with Steve Owen.
Desperate for her not to leave him, Ian pretended Lucy was dying and the pair tied the knot in 1999.
But their marriage was ill-fated as she left him when she found out his lies during the wedding reception.
Laura Dunn

Ian moved on, finding love with his nanny, Laura Dunn - played by Hannah Waterman.
However at the time he was bankrupt - causing her to suspect that he was only interested in the inheritance she received.
Confused Ian later tried to smooch Mel, making Laura furious.
Despite her anger, she still wanted to have a baby with him, and Ian wasn't opposed to the idea.
But Ian kept up with his lies, opting to get a secret vasectomy.
When Laura became pregnant, Ian mercilessly threw her out and conned her into giving him the business.
For the duration of his rendezvous with Laura, Ian was visiting prostitute Janine Butcher - played by Charlotte Brooks.
Laura met a grisly end in 2004 after breaking her neck falling down the stairs.
Jane Collins
Ian's next Mrs was none other than Jane Collins.
Played by Laurie Brett, the pair tied the knot in 2007 - although she did cheat on Ian with Grant Michell.
Their romance began to crumble when Ian sternly refused to adopt a child with Jane, soon after which he endured a passionate affair with Glenda Mitchell.
However it was Ian who found himself in a sticky situation soon after, as he revealed details of the affair to Jane after being blackmailed into doing so.
Ian then divorced Jane, however the pair continued to live together until Ian found someone new.
Mandy Salter

Although a brief love, Ian and Mandy's romance blossomed into an engagement.
Played by Nicola Stapleton, Many said "Yes" when Ian popped the question.
But their love was not to last after Ian's daughter Lucy despised Mandy, forcing Ian to choose his daughter over his new fiancée.
Denise Fox

After living out on the street, Ian struck up a romance with Denise Fox - played by Diane Parish.
Their love began hotting up after they moved in together as friends initially.
In fact, Ian was already plotting to propose to her after buying a stunning sparkler, however a spanner was thrown in the works.
Jane came back unannounced, which soon saw the exes rekindle their romance while working together.
Jane then went on to propose to him, with the pair tying the knot in their restaurant.
Jane was later blackmailed into leaving Walford after Steven tried to murder her, leaving heartbroken Ian alone again.
Rainie Branning
At this point, Ian was looking for cheap thrills, visiting prostitute Rainie Branning - played Tanya Franks - that he saw during his relationship with Denise.
But Rainie blackmailed him over the information as he saw her the night Lucy was killed, putting a complete stop to whatever relations they had between them.
Jean Slater

Ian's short-lived romance with Jean Slater is also not to be forgotten.
Played by Gillian Wright, Jean soon became offended by Ian during a date they had.
Her confrontation about it triggered a nasty response from Ian, forcing her to stand her ground and shuck a drink at him.
Jean then went on to find love with Daniel Cook, but descended into heartbreak and depression after he tragically died of cancer.
