EastEnders fans are sure they've 'worked out' the identity of Rose Knight – and how it ties into the Christmas 'murder'.
One male character will find himself dead this Christmas in shocking scenes, as the six matriarchs of Walford – Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki ( Balvinder Sopal ) – stand around him. Was he killed or is his death just accidental, and if he was murdered, who killed him?
There is also another huge storyline going on at the moment, with Rose Knight's identity set to be revealed this week. Rose was married to George Knight before disappearing, but some of the residents think there's much more to it all than meets the eye.
Fans have been guessing who Rose Knight might really be – with a lot of fans convinced it could link with the rumours that Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) is set to make a shocking return to the Square.
Some viewers are now sure the arrival of 'Rose Knight' coincides with the huge Christmas plot on the soap.
One fan guessed: "Got to be something regarding the Christmas plot I wonder if on Thursday we could see a different angle that shows Rose in the wedding scene. Something I hope ties in nicely #Eastenders."
"The killer at Christmas could not be rose/Cindy right? right. #EastEnders," a second guessed.
A third penned: "Calling it: Rose is Cindy. Cindys in police protection, hence why she cant contact the girls, and why the serious crime unit knocked on Callums door over a search. And why no trace is on police databases And then Gina and Bobby will have some weird love thing going on #Eastenders," with a fourth adding: "I’m guessing Cindy “Rose Knight” is in witness protection. But why? And how does it tie in with Ian? How long has he known and why does he know?"
Colin Salmon – who plays George – teased there's more than meets the eye about Rose's identity.
"George is affronted and angry. It's about respect, and George finds it disrespectful, and that makes him cross. He's like, 'Hang on a minute, you don't know the story, so you've jumped to the wrong conclusion,'" he said.
"But again, George does understand how Phil got to that conclusion, and Linda isn't helping. George has been living under a cloud. Some people think he killed Rose, so it's been nine years of mystery and heartache on top of suspicion and misunderstanding. It's hard if you are a member of a family and your spouse has gone missing, everyone thinks they know what's going on."
