Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) has made her blossoming relationship with Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) official after Dot Cotton's (June Brown) great nephew found a way to evict troublesome lodger Jed (Bradley Jayden).
However, EastEnders fans suspect there's more to Reiss' hatred for Jed and the pair may in fact know each other from before their on-screen meeting in Walford.
In recent scenes, Reiss suggested Sonia get a lodger to help with her money problems but was far from impressed when Jed came along instead of the nurse suggesting he move in.
Reiss finally got rid of Jed last week after uncovering him as a fraud who failed to pay rent despite being the heir to a biscuit empire.
But, BBC viewers don't think that will be the last Sonia will see of Jed after uncovering a clue that suggests he is secretly working with Reiss.
One tweeted: "I think him and Reiss are family some how and they want Sonia's money," while another added: "Maybe him and Reiss are after Sonia’s house/money. Perhaps they knew each other prior to all this and Reiss is now scared of the competition."
"Something about Jed that I don't like but can't put my finger on it," said a third.
Someone else wrote: "I’m sure at the very end of last nights episode, I saw Reiss give Jed a look, and I thought then, they’re working together. For what, I’m not sure, but defo think they’re together somehow."
"I wonder how Reiss knew Edward 'Jed' then…. #Eastenders," a fifth questioned.
Last week, Reiss uncovered Jed's true identity to evict him but failed to tell Sonia how he was able to get rid of her lodger.
"I could tell you but I'd have to kill you," Reiss joked but the comment may hide a more sinister meaning.
Reiss arrived in Walford for Dot's funeral and quickly grew close with Sonia before ghosting her for several weeks.
He then turned up unexpectedly when he heard Sonia was having money problems and could be forced into selling her house.
Little is known about the accountant and in true soap style he could be hiding a dark secret.
Will Sonia regret asking Reiss to move in with her or will she finally get a chance at love?
