EastEnders fans sickened by Gray's cruel signal to Karen about Chantelle in final scene

EastEnders aired dramatic scenes on the BBC soap on Thursday night, as serial killer Gray Atkins was finally caught and arrested for his crimes.

But his final taunt in a hand gesture to his mother-in-law Karen Taylor in his final scenes left viewers sickened.

The character had told Karen how he'd murdered her daughter Chantelle, his late wife, in 2020 after she fell on a knife in the open dishwasher during a row.

Chantelle was shoved by Gray and landed on the blade, and sadly bled to death as he refused to get help and instead made it look like an accident.

Karen learned the horrifying truth on Thursday night, and he enjoyed torturing her with the details and how he watched her die.

But it was one final move as he was led away by police that left viewers feeling sick, as Gray took one last moment to taunt Karen about her daughter's final moments.

Viewers noticed a hand gesture Gray made as he stared at Karen, as he appeared to point at his eye with his finger before giving a weird look.

Karen knew exactly what he was doing as she sobbed in reaction as he got into the car.

Many fans were left asking what he was doing, and what the signal meant as it clearly had significance.

Others were quick to point out Gray had explained it earlier in the episode and had made a similar gesture, as he explained how tragic Chantelle died.

He revealed, and the gesture reflected, the fact that his eyes were the last thing she saw as she took her last breath.

Gray making the hand signal as he left was his final taunt to Karen to remind her what he had done, and viewers were horrified.

Picking up on the moment, one fan said on Twitter : "I think he was reminding her it was his eyes Chantelle saw before she died."

Another agreed: "Before Chantelle died, Gray was the last person she saw alive before passing. Gray revealed this detail to Karen who refused to believe it.

"After being arrested on suspicion of murder he points at his eye to psychologically mess with Karen's mind. He basically gets the last laugh."

A third added: "He told her earlier in the episode that he was the last thing that Chantelle saw before she died. He was taunting Karen as he was being taken away."

Meanwhile another fan commented: "To remind her of what he told her earlier - the last thing Chantelle saw was his eyes," as others called him "pure evil".
