EastEnders fans 'scream' after spotting something terrifying in Gray and Chelsea scene

EastEnders viewers raced to Twitter to share their horror, as they feared Chelsea Fox's fate was sealed on Wednesday night's episode of the BBC soap.

It was the moment we'd all been waiting for, as she asked her killer husband Gray Atkins whether he'd killed his previous wife Chantelle Atkins and neighbour Tina Carter.

Viewers hailed the tense episode the "best in years" as the walls closed in on Gray, with residents out for blood.

The Carters and Whitney Dean were determined to track him down and ensure he faced justice, while the police were still not exactly certain they had a killer in Walford.

Mitch Baker finally found out the earth-shattering news that his son-in-law had killed his beloved daughter Chantelle in 2020, and staged her death as an accident.

But what they didn't know was that just across the Square, Gray was at home and trying to force new wife Chelsea to flee with him and the children, including their premature baby son Jordan who he had kidnapped from the hospital.

Things got tense as Chelsea asked Gray for a confession, claiming she needed to know the truth if she was going to run away with him.

Fans were relieved though when it was confirmed she had dialled 999, and the operator was potentially listening to the entire conversation - capturing the moment Gray admitted to killing Chantelle.

As Chelsea continued to convince Gray she was on his side, with her phone in her hand, the pair hugged as she claimed she was going to flee Walford and go on the run with him and the children.

But it's when she realised the police had yet to show up and he wanted them to go that second, that she panicked and tried to delay their exit - even trying to find out where her baby son was.

A panicked Chelsea, hiding the fact her phone was still connected to the emergency services, was begging him to tell her where Jordan was, hoping the police would get there if she was forced to flee.

But as this was all happening, and as things got heated between the couple, viewers could not take their eyes off something in the background of the scene which had them "screaming" at their TVs.

The same dishwasher that tragic Chantelle fell on, causing her death, was open yet again in the background and Chelsea moved nearer to it every second.

One moment saw Chelsea fall over the door, and viewers were convinced history was about to repeat itself.

In that moment the pair struggled and Chelsea fell back, knocking the open dishwasher door as she almost fell on top of it like Chantelle - with the knives once again facing their blades upwards.

Viewers were horrified and left begging someone to shut the door, knowing full well what happened last time - and fearing Gray was about to strike again.

It all reached a head when, again near the appliance, Chelsea was caught out as she dropped her phone and Gray picked it up, only to see she had been on the phone to 999 the entire time.

Taking to Twitter, viewers shared their horror over the scenes, with one writing: "Best episode in years. Screaming crying throwing up."

Another said: "So have finally caught up with this weeks episodes of # Eastenders & I’m literally screaming at seeing that open dishwasher."

A third added: "When #Eastenders is on point, it’s amazing. I was genuinely on the edge of my seat, gasping and screaming at every turn tonight and cannot wait for the culmination tomorrow, well done EE."

Meanwhile, a fourth fan tweeted: "I’m BEGGING Chelsea to get away from the open dishwasher," as a fifth agreed: "This dishwasher really messes with my anxiety."

The comments kept coming too, with another reading: "This scene was f***ing terrifying."
