There's nothing like the moment when a soap favourite appears in another, causing a character crossover which plays havoc with the minds of viewers.
So, there was enormous delight when Brookside legend Barry Grant appeared on the doorstep of Phil Mitchell in EastEnders.
Of course, it's not actually Barry that has bombed it down from Liverpool but the debut of actor Paul Usher in Albert Square, as nasty piece of work Danny Hardcastle.
Danny had a score to settle with Phil in Walford, who is played by Steve McFadden, and while there was the potential for a testosterone filled match-up, EastEnders fans couldn't see past that it was Barry Grant at the door to collect the monies owing.

Taking to Twitter , viewers were in raptures at the new but old face in town.
One couldn't hide their excitement, tweeting: "BE STILL MY BEATING HEART it’s # barrygrant in # eastenders OMG"
Another loved the new arrival: "Barry Grant on Eastenders, I can't cope, do one Phil Mitchell you blert"

A third was hoping for more of a reunion, tweeting: "Barry Grant is now in the square EastEnders now all we need is Jimmy Corkhill and Sinbad to turn up and we have 3 a crowd"
There was also a comparison with the nasty nature of Paul's previous characters: "It's Barry Grant from Brookside. Or if you used to watch the Bill, Des Taverner which ever role, they were both pretty nasty characters. Looks like things haven't changed much."

What is for certain, the arrival of Danny in the Square is not going to bring a smile to Phil's face.
As per with Phil, trouble is not far away and after embarking on a rather dodgy business that has seen him go between the East End and Spain, it was only a matter of time that there was a knock at the door.

Let's not forget that Phil put Keanu's life in danger by dispatching him to Spain and the arrival of Danny in Walford is the icing on the cake of a troublesome time for the Mitchell brother.
Paul Usher played Barry for the length of Brookside's run, from 1982 to 2003, though he did come and go,
He also starred as Des Taviner in former drama The Bill, though fans were quick to dismiss this character as paling into the shadows of the legendary Barry Grant.
