EastEnders fans left devastated as emotional Whitney breaks down over pregnancy struggles

EastEnders' Whitney Dean has recently shared her heartache after discovering that her unborn baby had a small chance of survival due to a rare genetic disorder.

The market trader and her on-off boyfriend Zack Hudson have been dealing with the news that their baby had been developing with her abdomen organs outside of her body.

Medical staff had informed the expecting parents that they faced the option of a termination or risk their beloved tot not surviving after birth.

In recent weeks, Whitney has been coming to terms with the news while keeping it close to her and Zack while attempting to battle through it together.

During an emotional scene, Whitney explained to Zack that she couldn't have coped throughout the process without him before saying the termination was the right thing for them.

As she began to criticise her body, Zack leapt to her defence as he explained that the condition their child developed could not have been prevented.

Shortly after the scenes aired, fans flocked to social media to share their reactions, with one writing: "Whitney and Zack have me BAWLING #EastEnders."

"Zack and Whitney are amazing together!!!!!!!! #EastEnders," wrote a second.

Before a third penned: "My heart breaks for Whitney #EastEnders."

"#EastEnders is literally breaking my heart with Whitney’s storyline at the moment," commented another.

An emotional Whitney reflected on herself, saying: "I'm sat here, with my baby dying in my body so I can't help like it's my fault.

"I'm her mum Zack, I'm her mum – I'm not supposed to make her sick, I'm supposed to look after her."

In devastating scenes which are yet to air, Whitney and Zack, say their final goodbye to their daughter after taking the second tablet as part of the termination process.

Following the passing of their daughter Peach, who they found out had been diagnosed with Edwards’ Syndrome, Zack and Whitney are struggling with their decision and argue about leaving their daughter at the hospital.

Things get even more difficult for the pair as they find out that their daughter's existence isn't legally recognised.

Zack, meanwhile, heads to the faith room but he bumps into an expectant father, with a nonchalant attitude that leaves him fuming.

Nurse Lynsey encourages the pair to spend time with Peach, and Whitney eventually agrees before the pair sit down and have a final moment with their daughter before saying their goodbyes in emotional scenes.

When Whitney received the diagnosis, actress Shona McGarty explained how it was her character's "worst nightmare".

"This is Whitney's worst nightmare. She's been doing a lot of research online and they always say you shouldn't search stuff, but obviously, Whitney just can't help it. I'm sure we could all put ourselves in that position and we'd probably do the same," she said.
