EastEnders fans heartbroken for Chantelle's dad as he discovers truth about killer Gray

EastEnders were left feeling heartbroken for Mitch Baker during Wednesday's episode as he found out the truth about Gray Atkins.

The latest instalment of the BBC soap saw Whitney Dean tell Mitch the truth about how his daughter Chantelle died.

In highly emotional scenes, Mitch decided to go and speak to Mick Carter and Whitney about Gray - and was left shellshocked.

Whitney told him: "When you look back, it makes sense. The broken arm she said she got from slipping on the stairs, all the bruises on her arms, and being nervous for no reason."

Speaking about when Chantelle died, Whitney continued: "she was gonna run away that night with Kheerat and the kids. They were supposed to meet but she didn't show up and the next day, she was dead..."

Mitch looked devastated as he admitted: "I knew it. I've always known it. Why didn't I do something? I could have saved my baby girl."

"Mitch, you can't blame yourself," Whitney said.

"Yes, yes I can. I'm her dad, her father, it's up to me to protect her," he replied, before adding: "I've gotta tell Karen, I've gotta tell Karen now."

Viewers were left feeling gutted for Mitch and took to Twitter to comment.
