EastEnders fans have begged for more and hailed the "perfect" casting for the special flashback episode.
The one of a kind episode aired on September 5 as part of the BBC One soap's decision to explore more about Phil Mitchell's past and how what happened to his family at a young age shaped present day. Actors were cast to play the roles of a young Phil, Grant and Sam Mitchell whilst Roxy and Ronnie also made an appearance. Jaime Winstone played Peggy Mitchell.
The storyline featured some very dramatic scenes, as fans of the show finally learned out the truth about why DCI Keeble has such a vendetta against the Mitchell family. She has been trying to get Phil to rat out his cousin Billy.
As viewers tuned into the programme tonight, they heaped praise on bosses for the "excellent" casting.
One fan penned: "The casting for this Mitchell flashback episode is perfection. Massive bravo to @bbceastenders # EastEnders," as a second added: "Bloody hell, whoever cast that lad as young Phil Mitchell, take a bow. He's so accurate it's scary #EastEnders."
A third shared on social media: "The guy playing young Phil Mitchell in this #Eastenders flashback episode is amazing. The mannerisms are spot on. Grant & Peggy too. Great acting," as a fourth wrote: "They've absolutely nailed the younger Mitchells, great casting!"

In dramatic scenes tonight, it was revealed DCI Keeble is the daughter of the security guard that Phil's father Eric Mitchell murdered when he rumbled them for the robbery of the lock up he was looking after.
Of the episode, Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer for EastEnders, said: "We’re delighted to be welcoming an incredible cast of actors to set for this special flashback episode, including the luminous Jaime Winstone as a young Peggy Mitchell.
"Focussed on the Mitchell family, audiences will embark on a rollercoaster journey to the East End of London in 1979 where they’ll delve into the family’s past, seeing much-loved and iconic characters, as well as meeting characters from the show’s history that have never been seen on screen before."
He added: "There are twists, turns and secrets revealed – after all, trouble is never too far away where The Mitchells are concerned!"
