EastEnders fans convinced Jay and Lola actors are real-life couple after cosy snap

EastEnders fans are convinced actors Jamie Borthwick and Danielle Harold are a real-life couple.

The stars, who play Jay and Lola in the BBC soap, were snapped looking cosy as they filmed in Margate this week.

Sharing a photo of the emotional scenes on Instagram, ahead of Lola's upcoming soap exit – following the news her character has an incurable brain tumour – Danielle wrote: “The best memories with the best crew.”

Danielle is seen staring into Jamie's eyes from their filming location, which saw Jay and Lola enjoy a last day beside the seaside before she dies.

But fans are convinced there could be more to the actors’ relationship as the pair seem cosy.

“Can someone tell me if these are a couple in real life? As if they ain’t they need to be!!!,” one of Danielle’s 286,000 Instagram followers wrote.

Another commented: “Jamie and Danielle should get together in real life.”

“I was going to say the same!! Both are single so there’s hope yet,” a third chimed in.

“Definition of soul mates,” said a fourth.

Another eagle-eyed fan added: “They are together. She posted on her Insta story the other day saying my fav person ever and they kissed on the lips.”

In upcoming scenes on EastEnders, Lola will tragically die after doctors told her there was nothing else they could do after she was diagnosed with a inoperable brain tumour.

Speaking about her exit from the soap, actor Danielle said: “Lola’s story has been a very hard one to tell and one that means so much to me and sadly effects so many people.

“Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically only 1% of research is allocated to this devastating disease.

“I would like to take a moment for everybody that has reached out to me and shared their experiences with me , I have read every message And hold all of your messages close to my heart whilst playing this story.

“I have been blessed to meet the most incredible people and work with some wonderful charities along the way and I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for all your support advise and love.“

EastEnders fans were left heartbroken on Wednesday when Lola asked her granddad Billy Mitchell to help her end her life when the time comes.

During the emotional episode, Lola learned her palliative chemotherapy treatment hasn't worked, meaning she only has a matter of weeks to live.

When she realised she may lose her cognitive functions as her condition progresses, she asks Billy to help end her life.

Billy initially refused but later changed his mind when he saw how much Lola wanted to protect Lexi from the reality of what may come.

However, after an emotional trip to Margate Lola changed her mind and vowed to see her life through to the end and die naturally.

*EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
