EastEnders fans beg for Ruby to return to BBC soap after name drop

EastEnders fans have begged for Ruby Allen to return to the BBC One soap - after she was namedropped in tonight's episode.

The character - played by Louisa Lytton - exited the show back in 2021, where she was led away from Albert Square in handcuffs after the Slater family finally got justice for Ruby's pack of lies after she claimed Stacey made her lose her baby.

Whilst soap bosses confirmed they would be Ruby's final scenes, the actress went on maternity leave - but after she was mentioned during tonight's episode of the show, fans are hopeful she might make a return sooner rather than later.

Excited fans took to Twitter to beg Ruby to return to the show.

"RUBY COME BACK #Eastenders," one wrote, with another adding: " #Eastenders Ruby is selling the club wtf is she coming back."

However, other viewers tuning into the soap were convinced this meant Ruby would never return, with another penning: "Ruby is selling the club? I guess this means she isn’t coming back. #eastenders."

Sam and Phil discussed the possibility of buying Ruby's club - and Sam had a heart warming plan for the property if they could acquire it, as she explained her decision to name it after Peggy Mitchell, played by the late Barbara Windsor.

Fans loved the idea, with one writing: "Sam wants to name Ruby’s club after Peggy omfg that’s so adorable. #EastEnders."

"Sam wants to name Ruby's club after Peggy, OMG #EastEnders," a second added.

Louisa previously opened up about the possibility of her returning to the show.

"Yeah, I'm not sure at the moment," she said, "Everything is sort of up in the air. I just don't know. Now that I've had a baby, that's the priority. I don't have time to watch TV at the moment, I watched it to get back into it after 15 years but I'm just too busy now.

"Mum life is really good, she's seven months now. It's my first Mother's Day, it's just flown by. It's what I've always dreamed of, I waited a very long time for it, I just love every minute at the moment."
