EastEnders' Danny Dyer signs up to give acting lessons after leaving soap

Actor Danny Dyer will try his hand at teaching after leaving EastEnders.

The 44-year-old, who is famed for playing Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, has signed up to give acting masterclasses to aspiring thespians.

His sessions will be hosted in London by I am Pro – an online drama school co-founded by fellow EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks.

The 40-year-old star is best known for playing Albert Square villainess Janine Butcher, who has been involved in storylines about cocaine addiction and murder.

In order to learn from Human Traffic star Danny, students will have to fork out £30 a month for I am Pro membership.

But since the actor’s involvement with the school was announced, a surge of new students have applied. The teaching gig is one of the first jobs Danny has landed since announcing he will be quitting his soap role after nine years on screen.

Speaking about leaving EastEnders, he said: “I’ve decided not to renew my contract. That’s all. That’s not because I’ve fallen out with anybody – I love everybody.

“That job has been amazing for me. It’s an important part of television. I’m grateful for the beautiful years I’ve had there. I’m going to miss the people massively. It’s me taking a risk.”

Of his exit, he promised: “Let me tell you something – Mick’s exit is going to be a very, very powerful thing. I would love the door to be left open – and as far as I know, it is.

“When I go out there and fail miserably, I can come back with my tail between my legs and go, ‘Will you take me back?’”

In 2016, on BBC ’s Who Do You Think You Are?, Danny made a right royal discovery where he learned he was descended from Edward III.
