EastEnders actor Danny Dyer has revealed that he's in talks to kill off character Mick Carter in a "dark" Christmas storyline.
The 44-year-old actor is bowing out after 10 years on the soap - revealing to The Mirror that he wasn't planning to leave the door open for a return.
Promising that his exit would be "huge and epic", he said that he wanted the sad scenes to "get people talking" and warned it would be a "shock".
Appearing on the red carpet at tonight's British Soap Awards this evening, he revealed: "I've got a few more scenes, I'm going out at Christmas. I came here Christmas 2013 and I'm going out at Christmas."
Quizzing him on whether it would be an open door exit, he replied: "I would like to put a full stop on it for sure. It's all up in the air but I want it to be huge and epic and I want people to be talking about a certain subject that I think's very important and with our platform and we get it right, it reaches a lot of people.
"So I want to go out in a way that gets people debating. It's important and I think it's going to be a shock."
Confirming that it would be "dark", he explained that he and soap bosses hadn't come to a firm decision yet about his exit.
"We're still debating it but I'm hoping I get my way," he said.
Asked whether he would miss EastEnders, he said: "Yes, I'm going to miss everyone. Course I will - it's huge walking away from a job like that. It's been a third of my career, I've been acting 30 years, 10 years of it has been in that show. It will be really, really weird when I finally walk out."
Hinting that the whole Carter family could potentially bow out, he quipped: "Well there aren't many of us left! I'm with Janine now!"
