EastEnders, Corrie and Emmerdale clash: What to watch as soaps go head-to-head

Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders are set to clash from tonight as the soaps prepare to go head-to-head.

The BBC One soap - which has an exciting string of episodes planned this week as killer Gray Atkins finally faces his comeuppance - will now face ITV's Emmerdale in a huge soap clash, beginning this week.

EastEnders will now air Mondays to Thursdays from 7.30pm, whilst Emmerdale will also take the same time slot every day on rival channel ITV - with an hour long episode on Thursday.

Coronation Street will now broadcast in a consistent time slot of 8pm - 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Ahead of the new schedule starting tonight, The Mirror are giving you a rundown of all the biggest stories from the soaps this week so you can decide which one to tune into.

Emmerdale

If you thought Emmerdale couldn't get any more dramatic, after a huge gun showdown saw Billy Fletcher, Dawn Taylor and evil serial killer Meena Jutla face off a few weeks ago, there's even more drama this week!

Not happy with how things have ended for herself, Meena - who is currently in prison after being charged for a multitude of crimes, including the murders of Ben Tucker, Leanna Cavanagh and Andrea Tate - is hell bent on continuing to stir things up.

Meena's not done yet with her manipulation (ITV)

This week, after targeting vicar Charles Anderson, she will move onto her own sister Manpreet and continue to manipulate those in the village from within jail.

Elsewhere, Mandy Dingle will be left devastated when she realises Vinny and Liv have married in secret and cousins Chas and Charity Dingle are set to go head-to-head as the newly-renovated Woolpack pub opens.

Matters get even worse when the duo both decide to hold big events on the same day - with Chas opting to hold Vinny and Liv's engagement party on the same night as the pub's launch.

EastEnders

The BBC One soap isn't playing around as it takes on Emmerdale head on - and it's a huge week ahead for the soap as serial killer Gray Atkins finally faces his comeuppance.

He killed Tina Carter, Kush Kazemi and murdered his wife Chantelle Atkins. He has also been subjecting his new wife Chelsea Fox to horrendous abuse - and now he will finally face his very own showdown.

Bosses are keeping Gray's fate under wraps - but will he manage to escape, or will he meet his death?

Gray will finally face his comeuppance this week (BBC)

Elsewhere, Kheerat returns after making a beeline from the Square after he attacked Gray, whilst Shirley turns her anger on the serial killer after finding out Gray murdered Tina and buried her body under the Arjee Barjee.

Fans are also fearful for baby Jordan after spoilers revealed Gray kidnaps his own son, with both Chelsea and Whitney in serious danger as the events play out.

How will it all end?

Coronation Street

Corrie viewers were dealt with the shock of their lives during last night's episode when Abi Franklin announced she was pregnant.

Fans tuning into the ITV soap couldn't believe it when Abi (Sally Carman) realised that she was in labour after being caught in a dramatic turn of events with drug dealer Dean, who stole one of the sports cars from the garage.

And things are set to get even more dramatic for Abi later this week as the fall out from her baby news continues. She is struggling with the news and this week sees things get even worse for Abi, who is battling with her drug addiction again.

Abi's baby arrives far too early (ITV)

Elsewhere, Gary is in hot water as he past seemingly starts to catch up with him. He murdered loan shark Rick Neelan two years ago, but Laura - who is battling a terminal illness - is now determined to find out what really happened to Rick.

Amid Lydia's determinacy to target Adam and make him pay, the lawyer is forced to take a break from his work as things get worse for him, whilst Lydia warns there's still more to come from her.

Whichever soap you choose, it promises to be an exciting week full of huge storylines as Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders take on one another head on in the schedule change.

With serial killers - Meena and Gray - starting to see their lives unravel and Abi struggling to cope after her shock baby arrival, we know for sure it won't be a quiet week for the rival soaps this year.
