Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has shared a rare photo of her son on her Instagram page.

The actress took to her social media to share a sweet selfie alongside her son. Alex Javed Saddiqi, as they enjoyed a Christmas trip to the capital.

The pair posed in front of a Christmas in Leister Square sign as they enjoyed some family time together.

Fans flooded to the comments to talk about the mother-son snap.

One person wrote: "You both look so happy. Nice to see smiling faces."

A second person said: "A lovely photo. Have a nice day together Cheryl xx"

While another commented: "Enjoy. Your son has the most beautiful smile," as a fourth added: "Lovely picture!!"

Cheryl simply captioned the photo: "London Town."

22 year old Alex is Cheryl's son from her first marriage to Jamshed Saddiqi, who she was married to between 2000-2008.

56 year old Cheryl recently posted a selfie to her Instagram page as she talked about having a 'secure' future while welcoming the new year.

She wrote in the caption: "Visualising all the good things that will make this the perfect year in my work , with my family , in my health and to finally have a secure financial future … if I visualise they are here then all I have to do is to work at them all to the best of my ability …getting rid of the things I don’t need and concentrating on the things that I do need remains my goals and this is mainly what keeps me happy , focused and loved.

"Strength is from within and from all the challenges I have been given so far … many would crumble and fall but in my world giving up is not an option and remembering where it all started is my grounding … may work come in abundance so that I may continue to be humbled in my profession .

"I write these thoughts and re read them when I stumble to allow myself time to breath and to remind myself it’s all ok . Remember kindness brings a smile and makes a permanent mark in someone’s heart."

Cheryl first came to The Square back in 2007 but her run ended in 2012 when her character Heather Trott was hit over the head with a picture frame by Ben Mitchell.

However, despite Heather being dead she popped up in 2016 when Dot Cotton found a tape with her voice on it.

But Cheryl's career didn't end there as since her EastEnders stint, she went on to be in Celebrity Big Brother, David Walliams sitcom Big School as well as his Christmas drama Hansel and Gretel After Ever After.

During a Loose Women appearance in 2020, Cheryl mentioned she had an idea how she would be able to go back in EastEnders.

At the time she left, she thought Heather's evil twin could live in Albert Square, meaning she'd be able to play that part.
