Over Christmas, EastEnders went back to the good old days as it aired some of the most dramatic festive scenes we've seen in years. At the centre of the drama was Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), who had tricked Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) into marrying her, despite having almost killed the love of his life Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
After Mick found out what Janine had really been up to, he broke things off with Janine, and promised childhood sweetheart Linda they would rekindle their love affair. However, Janine made it her mission to escape the hands of the police, and in a bid for freedom, escaped to the Kent coast.
A wild car chase ensued, as Mick and Linda raced to stop Janine - pregnant with Mick's child - from escaping. Tragedy soon followed, as the trio tumbled off the cliffs and into the sea, leaving Mick lost at shore as he attempted to save Linda's life.

Back in the square, Janine's brother Ricky called the police, and Janine was carted away. The storyline saw Charlie Brooks' final days on the show, and she's now left to take on new challenges.
But while Janine was famed for her blonde locks, in real life, Charlie has undergone a drastic transformation. She's now brunette, and EastEnders fans are having to double take as she looks unrecognisable.
Taking to Instagram to show off her new darker tousled hairdo, Charlie looked sensational as she posed in a plunging black top while opting for a barely-there natural makeup look. Beneath the photo, Charlie wrote: “Change is happening. Change is good.”
She also tagged the stylist responsible for her stunning transformation, John MacPherson, in the chic snap. Alongside her hair transformation, Charlie also revealed she had undergone a skin makeover too, as she took to her Instagram stories to thank @beautybyoliviav for blessing her with a flawless natural looking spray tan.
"Thank you @beautybyoliviav for making my tan look so real. I'm not usually a tan gal but I felt so glowy!” She gushed alongside a cheeky snap of the star emerging from a pop up tanning booth.
Following the social media reveal, fans quickly flocked to Charlie’s comments to share their thoughts on her new transformation, with many loving the stunning hairstyle.
“Welcome to the dark side! Suits you!” Quipped one fan, while a second agreed, adding: “You look incredible Charlie” Before a third commented: “Makes you look so much younger!”
Among the comments were a few famous faces too, including Charlie’s Eastenders co-star Shona McGarty who wrote: “Absolutely stunning! I love it Charlie! Stunning!” Sky news presenter Jacquie Beltrao also weighed in as she commented: “Wow looks amazing!” Meanwhile Natalie Cassidy commented simply: “Beautiful” alongside a string of red heart emojis.
