EastEnders boss teases return for iconic noughties character

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has teased that a return could be on the cards for popular character, Little Mo Slater (Kacey Ainsworth). Little Mo was last on our screens in 2006 and during her six years on the BBC soap-opera, she was involved in several huge storylines.

Speaking during an appearance on ITV’s Loose Women on Friday, February 24, executive producer Chris said: "Freddie is in the show, and so there is every chance Little Mo could pop back to Walford..." He was referring to Little Mo’s son, Freddie Slater, who is played by Bobby Brazier.

In the past, Little Mo actress Kacey has explained how she’d find it difficult to return to Albert Square thanks to her filming schedule on ITV drama Grantchester. When asked about a return, she told The Daily Star: "I do so much stuff, I'm not sure there's room at the moment."

One of Little Mo's most famous storylines saw her in an abusive marriage to Trevor Morgan, with viewers witnessing harrowing episodes such as Trevor forcing her to eat her Christmas dinner. She later fought back, hitting Trevor with an iron in self-defence, and was sent to prison after being found guilty of attempted murder.

She was released from custody, later falling in love with and going on to marry Billy Mitchell after Trevor's death in an explosion and fire. But unfortunately, there was more tragedy for Mo when she was raped by Graham Foster, resulting in her pregnancy with Freddie. Her decision to continue with the pregnancy eventually led to the breakdown of her marriage to Billy.

Elsewhere in his Loose Women interview, Chris gave very little away about EastEnders’ new flash-forward scene storyline. You can read more about that here.

He did share some other EastEnders gossip, though. On the future of the pub, he said: "What you will have seen this week is that Janine – who is in prison with his [Mick's] unborn baby – is selling his share of The Vic.

"Currently we have Nish Panesar and Sharon desperately trying to get their hands on the keys to the castle, but Linda is in secret talks with someone else."

He added: "What I will say is, her knight in shining armour isn't who you'll expect it to be." EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
