EastEnders fans will have seen Billy Mitchell's struggle with love over the years – from his failed marriage to Little Mo Slater to his on-off romance with Honey.
But, what some fans of the BBC One soap won't know is that Billy actor Perry Fenwick has had his own struggles with love.
The 60-year-old actor was once married to former Coronation Street actress Angela Lonsdale, who played Emma Watts on the soap.
Perry and Angela, 53, met when they were struggling actors and their romance grew along with their budding careers.
Perry landed his role as Mitchell bad boy Billy in 1998 – but his character has since developed into an EastEnder with a heart old gold.
Meanwhile, Angela landed her Corrie role as police officer Emma Taylor, who went on to marry Curly Watts, in 2000 before leaving the Cobbles in 2003.
Then, in 2005 the soap world went into meltdown when Perry and Angela wed.
Perry and Angela went on to welcome three children together; Lucy, Jayden and Isabella.
After Angela left Corrie she undertook roles in Holby City, The Bill and Doctors during her marriage to Perry.
The pair were seen as having one of the strongest romances in showbiz so it came as a shock to fans when the couple announced their decision to separate in 2010.
A spokesperson for the couple said at the time: "Perry Fenwick and Angela Lonsdale have sadly separated after five years of marriage.
"They will not be making any further comment."
At the time, a friend close to the couple told the Mirror: "They just ran out of love. They had a series of heart-to-hearts and decided to call it a day. No one else is involved. They are determined to stay friends. It’s sad but they are trying to stay positive and their families are rallying around."
Perry has continued to serve his long-standing role in EastEnders as Billy – with his character soon set for heartache after a terminal diagnosis for his beloved granddaughter Lola Pearce, played by Danielle Harold.
Meanwhile, Angela has since had roles in The Royal, Our Girl and Hollyoaks.
Then in 2016, Angela shared plans to marry session guitarist Jonny Davies and her best pal Denise Welch would become an ordained minister and officiate the wedding.
Angela said at the time: "Denise Welch is going to marry us, she's going to go online and do a course. If it's good enough for Robbie Williams, it's good enough for me. It'll be hilarious! So that's set in stone, but nothing else is."
Although the pair are yet to announce their nuptials, it is believed Angela and Jonny are still an item. Meanwhile, Perry is understood to be single.
Angela hasn't ruled out a return to Corrie someday either, as she previously said in 2016: "Never say never. I would love to go back I'm still very much in touch from everybody."
