EastEnders airs third exit in two days as another character leaves in emotional scenes

EastEnders aired another exit on the BBC soap on Thursday night, as Dana Monroe was the latest resident to leave Walford.

The character fled amid a worrying time, as she feared how her father would cope if she went to university as planned.

But she soon learned Harvey had all the support he needed, after a tough few months led to him drinking and struggling to cope.

She initially decided to not go to uni, believing her dad needed her around.

Harvey and his pals soon threw Dana a goodbye party though, celebrating her big moment - with her agreeing to go.

Dana was quick to find Harvey's ex Jean Slater before she went though, asking her to keep an eye on her dad while she was away.

Towards the end of the episode, Dana headed for the tube station with her luggage as she promised to keep in touch with her dad.

The pair hugged it out and said their goodbyes, as she made her way through the ticket barrier in her final scenes.

Jean was there too to help Harvey wave her off, with Jean hinting the character could make her way back to Walford at some point.

The scenes follow the news actress Barbara Smith, who plays Dana, had left the role after being written out of the soap.

Her character wasn't the only one, and this week saw two other characters bow out too.

Jada Lennox and her young daughter Alyssa both fled Walford suddenly after Jada's actions, at the request of villain Janine Butcher, were rumbled.

Janine blackmailed Jada into helping her for money, getting her to plant bottles of alcohol around recovering alcoholic Linda's home - and then calling social services.

After an incident left Annie with a bruise, Linda was devastated when Annie was taken from her and placed into care while they investigated.

Jada felt terrible and spilled all to Sharon, who later told Linda what had happened - while Jada planned to tell the police everything.

But she was confronted by evil Janine who taunted her about what would happen if she told the police the truth.

Jada packed her things and left, with Zack unable to stop her going - leaving him and Sharon devastated.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
