EastEnders airs shocking Mick Carter twist as police arrive with huge news

EastEnders aired some shocking scenes tonight - as the police arrived with huge news about Mick Carter.

Danny Dyer exited his role as Mick on the BBC One soap at Christmas in some huge scenes, where he got lost at sea after diving in to save his partner Janine Butcher and his estranged wife Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright. At present, Mick is assumed dead but is still listed as missing, as a body has yet to be found by the police.

However, Linda was dealt some big news tonight as they all gathered in the Queen Vic to remember Mick.

Alfie organised a special memorial for Danny, a surprise for Linda to show how much Mick meant to the whole of the village. All the residents of Walford had gathered to remember Mick on his birthday, as they all packed into the Queen Vic to remember him.

"There are no words, well - there is one - and Linda said it this morning, is lost and it's been going around my head all day, because when we lose someone like Mick Carter, we all lose something," Alfie said, as he said how Shirley had lost a son, Ollie had lost a dad and Linda lost the love of her life. "Albert Square lost a giant, people like Mick Carter don't come along every day," he concluded.

Alfie vowed to go through life and live like Mick did, putting his family front and centre. He joked about karaoke and Mick's love for West Ham before adding: "If we all do that, then he's always going to be here, isn't he?"

As they celebrated his life and remembered Mick, the police soon arrived with huge news for Linda. She was horrified to be presented with Mick's wallet, which had washed up onto shore. Linda was heartbroken as she opened the wallet to see Mick's driving licence inside and the tears flowed when she noticed he had kept a number of family photos in there too.

She ran out of the pub in tears, still clutching the wallet, with Alfie and Sharon following her. "I never stopped loving him," she said in tears, before Alfie added: "He never stopped loving you either."

Sharon spoke about her own loss, admitting that Linda might never get over what happened to Mick but vowed to her that she would get through it with the support of her friends and her loved ones around her.

*EastEnders airs Mondays through Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One.
