EastEnders' Adam Woodyatt looks very different with huge grey beard for new role

EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt, 54, is sporting a brand new look.

The former soap star took to his Instagram Stories on Thursday to give his followers a glimpse of his bushy grey beard, as the Ian Beale actor set off to Dublin to continue his stint in the touring production of My Fair Lady, in which he plays comedic role of Eliza's father Alfred P Doolittle.

"He’s very outspoken, very socialist, and he does what he likes. He has opinions and always thinks he’s absolutely right. He has this wonderful speech where he says: 'I’m not the deserving poor, I’m the undeserving poor'," the former I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star has previously said of her current theatre role.

The star - who pursued a vegan food business venture earlier this year - added: "I’m having so much fun playing around with it. Bartlett Sher (the director) wants him to not just be a comedy character but one who, as I say, also has an edge. There’s something else behind it, there’s something else driving him."

Speaking to Telegraph & Argus earlier this year, Adam also reflected on his time on EastEnders and admitted he missed the camaraderie with his co-stars but has no plans to return to the BBC soap anytime soon - explaining how he is currently 'very happy' being back working in the theatre.

Adam is still the longest-serving main cast member in EastEnders, thanks to playing Ian from the soap's inception in 1985 until his final appearance in January 2021.

Ian is also the most-married character in EastEnders history, with six marriages to five women and two failed engagements.

Since bidding farewell to Albert Square almost two years ago, Adam has been keeping himself busy with a stint in the Welsh castle for I'm a Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here! last year and treating fans to his cooking skills.

In July this year, the actor mucked in to help run a vegan food stall at a festival and excitedly shared a slew of his plant-based creations with his fans online throughout the day.

Adam beamed as he was spotted manning a plant-based street food trailer with catering company Kilty & Co at the CarFest festival in Cheshire.

As he taste-tested some of his culinary creations, the actor didn't look a million miles away from his EastEnders alter-ego Ian, who ran a fish and chip shop and the local cafe throughout his time in Albert Square.

"That looks so scrumptious," one fan wrote to the former soap star as he shared an array of recipes to his Instagram page.

"They look amazing Adam i could eat all if them well done," another commented, with a third adding: "Smashing it babes."

Some fans took the chance to ask Adam if he plans to return to EastEnders underneath his foodie updates, telling the actor the BBC soap is "not the same without you".

In his personal life, Adam married dancer Beverley Sharp in 1998 and share two children together.

The pair announced their separation in August 2020, revealing they had split the previous year after 20 years of marriage.
