EastEnders 2023 spoilers: Lily baby twist, Mick death fallout and Lola heartbreak

EastEnders is lining up "heart-stopping" drama, according to spoilers, with "explosive" and "devastating" scenes ahead in 2023.

The new year is said to kick off in "shocking fashion", as secrets explode and huge twists pave the way for big plots for the rest of the year.

Amid shocking scenes involving Mick Carter and Lily Slater recently, other characters are about to feature in huge moments too.

Zack Hudson faces a blast from the past this January who is set to turn his world upside down.

Just as he and Whitney Dean get closer, amid her pregnancy with his baby, they face their biggest test so far after a bombshell discovery.

It's said the news could leave the pair unable to recover, while details on the revelation are being kept under wraps.

Spoilers tease: "While Whitney is focused on their baby, Zack is forced to confront his troubled past and what that means for his future and the life of his unborn child.

"As the product of a deeply dysfunctional father, Zack is determined that history won’t repeat itself. But a shocking discovery throws his life into a tailspin."

Elsewhere in Albert Square, the disappearance and presumed death of Mick leaves ex Linda in turmoil as she heads back to Walford after going to see the couple's children to break the news.

Linda will be lost without the love of her life, as she struggles to adapt to life at The Vic after Mick disappeared at sea – following a showdown with his wife Janine Butcher in an explosive Christmas Day episode.

As Mick's fate remains a mystery, while he is presumed dead, Linda and her family will have to find a way through their grief.

Spoilers reveal: "Without her true love by her side, Linda’s future looks bleak – and she’s unsure how to carry on. Confronted with the ghosts of her past, can Linda rebuild her life without Mick?"

There's also trouble in store for Jack Branning and his wife Denise Fox, as his daughter Amy's ongoing battle with self-harming leaves the family struggling.

Their marriage is pushed to breaking point, spoilers suggest, as their differing views on coping with Amy's situation leave their future on the brink.

It's also been teased both of them could end up leaning on someone else for support, as they struggle to come together for Amy.

Meanwhile, Lola Pearce's health will deteriorate over 2023 after her terminal brain tumour diagnosis in 2022.

Her illness could spur her on to find her estranged mother – set to be played by Patsy Kensit, who is joining the show – and spoilers detail that "a photo from the past sends her on a final quest".

Spoilers say: "Lola and Jay know their time is running out, so they get busy trying to pack as much into their remaining life together as they can. The tragic reality of Lola’s deteriorating health means every moment is precious."

Another storyline that has only just kicked off and will continue in the coming weeks is Lily Slater's shocking pregnancy.

Stacey Slater learned her 12-year-old daughter was pregnant in a recent episode, with viewers finally finding out who the father of her baby is - Ricky Mitchell also known as Ricky Jr.

Details remain unknown for now in regards to what happens next and whether Lily will keep her baby, with her family and friends also yet to discover the truth.

With it recently said that Stacey and her ex Martin would tackle a huge new storyline together, perhaps this could be the plot in question.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
