East Renfrewshire missing man with 'distinctive scar' sparks police probe

UPDATE: Rory has now been found safe and well.

A man who vanished overnight has sparked a police investigation in East Renfrewshire.

Rory Derbyshire was last seen at around 6pm on Monday in Busby's Easterton Avenue. The 45-year-old has been known to frequent the Whitlee Wind Farm in nearby Eaglesham.

Rory is described as being around five feet, 11 inches tall, with short dark hair. He also has a distinctive scar on his left jawline.

Police are 'growing increasingly concerned' for Rory's welfare and said the hours since his disappearance has been 'an extremely worrying time' for his loved ones. Officers are scouring CCTV as part of the 'extensive search' to trace him and urge anyone with information that could help with their probe to come forward.

Police Inspector William Campbell said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Rory who has not been seen since yesterday. This is an extremely worrying time for his family and friends.

“Officers are carrying out extensive searches and reviewing CCTV in an effort to trace him. I would urge anyone who has any information on Rory’s whereabouts or who has had contact with him to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3359 of August 1."
