East Midlands Railway confirms 'significant' delays in Nottingham after lorry crashes into bridge

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has confirmed "significant delays" to trains in Nottingham after a lorry crashed into a bridge. All services between Nottingham and Peterborough will now be via rail replacement coach following the collision.

EMR has stated that the bridge suffered "significant damage" as a result of the crash. Trains cannot be diverted as a result.

The exact location of the crash is currently unknown.

Due to the nature of the crash, Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich services will terminate at Nottingham, with Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street services beginning at Nottingham. Two buses are running between Nottingham and Peterborough, one stopping at Grantham and another running direct.

EMR has apologised for any delay to people's journey.

An update from EMR read: "There are also late notice alterations to our services because of a lorry striking a bridge and causing significant damage yesterday. As a result, the trains cannot now be diverted and so all of our services between Nottingham and Peterborough will need to be via a rail replacement coach.

"As a result, Liverpool Lime Street to Norwich services will terminate at Nottingham. Norwich to Liverpool Lime Street services will start at Nottingham."
