East Midlands Airport temporarily held all flights in order to clear snow off their runway. The airport, located near to Castle Donington, explained four departing flights were delayed by snow falling onto the runway on Thursday, March 9.
One flight arriving from Poland also had to be diverted as a result. At 11am, a spokesperson for East Midlands Airport said: "All flights are currently held to allow runway snow clearance. This has delayed four departures and one arrival from Poland has been diverted."
The snow was cleared by 12.41pm on March 9, allowing operations to resume. A spokesperson for East Midlands Airport said delayed flights would soon depart.
It comes after sustained snowfall in some parts of the East Midlands. Snow fell overnight in Nottinghamshire and has continued throughout the morning of Thursday, March 9.
