East Lothian police appeal for doorbell footage after two homes broken into

Police in East Lothian are appealing to the public after they were called to investigate two house break-ins.

Officers say that the incidents took place in the town of Musselburgh with the first taking place some time between 11.15am and 1.15pm on The Grove on Thursday, March 16.

A second break-in is understood to have occurred between 11am and 1pm at Park Grove on the same day.

Police say that entry was gained into both properties and that personal items had been stolen from both homes on Thursday.

They added that they have opened enquiries into both incidents and that they believe they are linked.

Locals have been asked to keep an eye out for any suspicious activity in their community and for anyone with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage from the area to check for anything out of sorts during these hours.

Detective constable Russell Taylor said: “Our enquiries into both incidents are ongoing and, while we will keep an open mind, they are currently being treated as linked.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen any potentially suspicious activity in the area on Thursday to get in touch. We would also be keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam, private CCTV or doorbell footage from the area.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 1552 of 16 March, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
